Essential Teak Deck Care Tips & Custom Upgrades for Your Boat

Teak decks are known for their durability and timeless appeal, but they require proper care and attention to truly stand the test of time. Teak is a blend of both tough and soft wood pieces, offering a balance of strength and gentleness. However, if not maintained correctly, the softer parts of the wood can wear away easily.

Avoid using harsh household solvents, high-pressure cleaners, or hard brushes, as these can damage the surface, resulting in a rough, uneven texture. Instead, choose cleaning solutions specifically designed for teak wood, such as Just Teak, to preserve its integrity.

To restore the natural luster of your teak, sand the surface with 120-grit sandpaper, always sanding in the direction of the grain. For larger areas, an orbital sander can help speed up the process. After sanding, wipe the surface with a tack cloth to remove dust, and then apply a thin layer of teak oil or sealer with a natural bristle brush.
